The Eurasian griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) is a big vulture in the Accipitridae family that can be found at elevations below 3050m in the summer.
Adult birds are distinguished by a white head, neck, and fluffy collar. The short feathers on the head and neck form a ruff just above the nape, accentuating the long neck of the bird. The back and upperwing coverts are a bright buff brown, whilst the flight feathers and tail are a much deeper brown.
The underwing coverts have a mid-brown tint with two lighter buff-colored bands running from the scapulars to the alula (also known as the bastard wing). The stomach is chestnut.
