The Great Eggfly Butterfly is found from the lowland plains to mid-hill regions at elevations ranging between 122 m and 1,830 m. Males are especially eye-catching, with deep velvety black wings marked by bold white spots that often reflect a bluish or purplish sheen in sunlight, while females show greater variation in color and pattern, often resembling unpalatable species as a form of mimicry.

This adaptable butterfly inhabits a variety of landscapes, including forests, agricultural edges, gardens, and urban green spaces. The Great Eggfly is commonly seen basking in open areas or feeding on flower nectar and fallen fruit.
