White-bordered Copper (Lycaena panava) is a small yet striking butterfly found in the mid- to high-hill regions of Nepal at elevations ranging from 1,738 m to 2,804 m, making it a representative species of the country’s temperate and subalpine habitats.

As the name suggest, it is characterized by warm coppery-orange tones bordered with fine white markings along the wing edges, which become especially vivid in good sunlight. This species is typically observed along open forest edges, grassy slopes, and montane meadows, where it stays close to the ground and frequently perches on low vegetation.
