The Banded Tiger Moth is generally spotted in elevations ranging from 900m to 2000m. The male moths are generally 66mm in length with the length of the forewing being around 32-35mm. The female is around 90mm with the length of the forewing being around 40-42mm.

The head of the adult moth is orange with a black antenna having a band of white near the tip with the tip being black again. The collar has a pair of black spots. The forewings are white with oblique blackish-brown bands in the wing. The hindwing is yellow with black spots.
