The male Indian Blue Robin has blue upperparts with white supercilium, black lore, black cheek and orange underparts. The female has a brown upper part and white throat and belly.

These birds are generally seen in solitary in dense undergrowths, Rhododendron forests, secondary shrubs from 2135-3445 m of altitude, widespread and as summer visitors.
