Steppe eagles are common winter visitors found in an elevation ranging from 75 m to 2200m. A large eagle can be seen in open country, lightly wooded areas, near lakes, and large rivers. Brown in color when adult these birds have a reddish-brown patch on the nape, a thick neck with a relatively small head. It has a strong beak and yellow legs. The juvenile also resembles the adult but is baler brown.
