Found in elevation ranging from 1830 m above sea level to 2700m, these tiny songbirds can be spotted in and around forests and secondary growths.

The male Fire-breasted Flowerpecker has dark metallic blue-green upperparts. The underside is buffy creamy white with a scarlet breast patch and below it is a black strip which goes down to the belly. The female have a olive-green upperpart with the underside being yellow on the rump.
