The Black-hooded Oriole is a vibrant bird with a bright yellow body and a striking black head, as the name “hooded” suggests. The wings and tail center are also black.

The male has a black and yellow coloration, while the female is duller with greenish underparts but retains a black hood like the male. Known for its melodious calls, the oriole is often seen alone or in pairs, actively searching for fruits and insects. Its breeding season runs from April to June, during which it builds nests high in trees using plant fibers.

The Black-hooded Oriole inhabits elevations ranging from 75 to 365 meters above sea level. It thrives in open forests, woodlands, and gardens, adapting well to both rural and urban areas.
