A lovely month to start with taking macro of a lot of moths and spiders but the travel to Sauraha, Chitwan topped it out. Wildlife spotting and birding are really fun out there and walking through the jungle gives you another thrill. I saw a lot of flora and fauna this month and to name a few sightings I did see Chital, Barking deer, Peafowl, Coucal, Scaly-breasted Munia, Common Kingfisher, White-throated Kingfisher, Black Drongo.
I did manage to get photo documents of Gharial and Mugger crocodiles, One-horned Rhinoceros, Assam Macaques, Black Ibis, Lesser Adjutant, Little Heron, Great Egret, Alexandrine Parakeet, Pied Kingfisher, Dollarbird, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Himalayan Flameback, Asian Pied Starling, Red-wattled Lapwing, Jungle Babbler, lizards, leeches, Mimosa and many more.
On a serious note, it was sad to see is how the human civilization’s waste management system is ineffective and their consequence ultimately falls in the wildlife sector. I went to Sauraha, Chitwan a month after the floods had hit that place and it was sad to hear that a lot of wildlife was affected and a lot had also died in the process. As I walked towards the Chitwan jungle for some wildlife shots for the blog I came across a lot of debris brought in by the flood and seeing the jungle littered with plastic broke my heart. I guess we including me could do better than what we are doing now in terms of waste management and get plastic usage to a minimum if not banned completely.
