The Burflower Tree (Neolamarckia cadamba), locally known in parts of Nepal as Kadam or Kadamphool, is a fast-growing tropical tree commonly found in the lowlands and riverine landscapes of the country. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils and is frequently seen along riverbanks, forest edges, community forests, and near human settlements.
The species is most common in the Terai and lower mid-hills, occurring at an altitude range of approximately 100 to 1,000 metres above sea level. Its large, glossy leaves and distinctive spherical orange-yellow flowers make it easily recognisable.
Ecologically, the Burflower Tree supports a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies, while its dense canopy provides shade and shelter for wildlife.
