The Blackbuck, locally known as Krishnasar, is a slender antelope of the open grasslands of the Terai in Nepal, typically found at elevations of about 100–300 meters above sea level. In Nepal, the species survives mainly in the Blackbuck Conservation Area and parts of Shuklaphanta National Park.

Adult males are striking, with a dark brown to black upper body, white underparts, and long spiral-shaped horns, while females and young are lighter yellowish-brown and usually hornless. Adapted to open habitats, blackbucks are swift grazers that feed mainly on grasses and herbs in grasslands and lightly wooded plains.
