From 213m to 2100m these butterflies are very commonly found in forests, woods, open areas, and water.
Even though it is referred by the name Purple Sapphire the color purple only refers to the iridescent color of the upper surface of the wings. Both male and female are similar in appearance, except the female has a larger orange marking on the forewing.
The photo on the July 2022 calendar was taken in Lakeside, Pokhara. I have been able to document them on my hiking trips to the Pokhara Shanti Stupa in Anadu Hill as well.
