Cattle Egrets are found in abundance near swamps, grasslands, near ponds below 1500m below sea level.  

These birds have all-white plumage during the nonbreeding season along with a yellow bill and yellow greyish legs. During the breeding season, it has an orange plumage in the head, neck, back. The base of the yellow bill and the leg also change into reddish-orange.
