Also known as Giant Milkweed this large shrub is found in elevation up to 1200m, and can grow up to 4m tall. The leaves of the plant are oval, light green with a milky stem. The flowering season for the plant is from March to October and the flowers are waxy white or lavender in color. There are five-pointed petals in the flower with a small “crown” rising from the center which holds the stamens. The seeds are the source of floss which is used as pillow stuffing and the stem of the plant produces a durable fiber that is used to make boat strings and various other products.
