The Himalayan Whorlflower is a striking perennial wildflower found on open grassy slopes, rocky hillsides, and alpine scrublands of Nepal at elevations ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 metres. It is easily recognized by its tall flower spikes, surrounded by whorls of long, narrow leaves with sharply spiny margins. The fragrant tubular flowers emerge in dense circular clusters, opening creamy white to pale pink before gradually deepening to rose-pink or crimson as they mature, creating a beautiful multi-coloured display on a single stem. The flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies during the summer flowering season. In Nepal, this species is typically found at elevations of about 2,000–4,000 metres, particularly in the mid-hills and alpine regions.
