Alexandrine parakeet is a large parakeet compared to others with a size ranging up to 53cm. They are found in sal forests, agricultural lands, towns in an elevation ranging from 75m to 1380m. The male is predominantly green with a heavy hooked red beak. The black color extends from the lower mandible towards the collar alongside the pink collar which the female lacks. The male also has a red patch on the shoulders.
They feed on seeds from cultivated crops, fruits, and nuts.
