Common Name: Beet Webworm Moth
Scientific Name: Spoladea recurvalis
Family: Crambidae
Size: 22–24 mm (wingspan)
Location: Kurintar, Chitwan, Nepal

The Beet Webworm Moth is a small moth commonly found across Nepal’s lowlands and mid-hills, occurring at elevations of up to around 1,750 meters above sea level. It is easily recognized by its dark brown to purplish wings, marked with a distinctive broad white band that runs across both the forewings and hindwings, forming a continuous, curved pattern when at rest. The wings are relatively narrow and held flat, giving the moth a sleek, triangular profile.

The body is slender and similarly dark in color, complementing the contrasting wing pattern. Like many members of its family, it is often active during the day as well as at dusk, frequently seen fluttering low over vegetation. The Beet Webworm Moth is typically associated with open habitats, agricultural fields, and disturbed areas where its host plants grow.
