Found between 2,500 and 3,400 meters in Nepal’s mid to high mountain regions, the Crimson-bodied Tiger is a beautiful moth.
Its forewings are grey-green with a metallic sheen, marked by distinct black-edged yellow spots, while the hindwings are orange with bold black veins and a row of dark marginal blotches.
The moth’s vivid crimson abdomen and contrasting wing patterns make it an unmistakable sight against the alpine vegetation where it flies during warmer months.
The moth in the photo was recorded at 2600m in Parvati Kunda, Gatlang.
