False White Teak is a medium-sized deciduous tree native to Nepal, commonly found in riverine forests, moist woodlands, and disturbed forest edges in elevations of around 70–1,200 meters. It is easily recognized by its large, broad, heart-shaped leaves, which are bright green above and softly hairy beneath.

The tree bears small, greenish-yellow flowers, with male and female flowers produced on separate trees. Its rounded green fruits mature to yellowish-brown and split open to reveal dark seeds. In Nepal, it is an important pioneer species that helps stabilize riverbanks and provides habitat and food for wildlife.
