Gaurs are heavily built wild cattle, and also the largest bovine in the world. Female gaur can weigh up to 1000kg and the male can reach up to 1500kg. These massive bison can be found in elevations ranging below 800m.
Both males and females have horns and a convex grey ridge on their forehead between their horns. The adult male is massive muscular glossy black bulls.
They are found in evergreen and deciduous forest hills and grassy areas.
