The Grey Treepie is an omnivorous bird commonly found in Nepal, inhabiting elevations between 1050m and 2150m, though it may descend to lower altitudes of 915m to 1525m during the winter.

The adult Grey Treepie has a distinctive look, with a black face and throat creating a subtle mask, and a greyish crown and nape. Its back and scapulars are brownish, complementing the pale belly that gradually lightens towards the rufous vent.

The wings are dark, showcasing a prominent white patch visible in flight, while the tail is long, grey, and tipped with black, with the outer and central feathers also black-tipped. The undertail coverts are orange, adding to the bird’s vibrant coloration.

Both males and females share this appearance, including black beaks, blackish-brown legs, and striking red or reddish-brown eyes.
