The Güldenstädt’s Redstart is a prominent high-altitude bird species inhabiting the mountainous regions of Nepal. This species is typically found in alpine meadows, rocky slopes, and subalpine scrublands, often near water sources. During the breeding season, it occupies elevations ranging from 2,900 to 3,700 meters, descending to lower altitudes between 1,370 and 2,900 meters during the winter months.

Its striking coloration distinguishes the adult male: predominantly black upperparts highlighted by a white crown, a conspicuous white patch on the wings, and a vivid orange-red tail. The underparts feature a black throat and upper breast transitioning into a rich orange-red belly. Females and immature males exhibit more subdued tones, with brown upperparts and orange-buff underparts, complemented by the orange-red tail.
