The Indian Golden Oriole is found in open deciduous forests, forest edges, and habitations at elevations ranging from 75 to 1830 meters.

As the name suggests, the male’s plumage is golden-yellow with a black eye patch and a pale red bill. The wings and tail are black. The female has yellow-green upperparts, black streaks on white underparts, and brownish-green wings and tail.

The oriole hunts insects and feeds on fruits and nectar.
