Common Name: Little Grebe
Scientific Name: Tachybaptus ruficollis 
Nepali Name: Dubulkichara ( डुबुल्कीचरा )
Size: Male – 25-29 cm
Location: Pokhara, Nepal

Found in large open bodies of water having vegetations below 1370m, these Little Grebe as the name suggests are very small Grebe. These birds are excellent swimmers and as the Nepali name suggests they dive underwater to pursue fish and other aquatic invertebrate preys.

They have a black head with rufous cheek, throat, and neck; black nape, breast, and back. The base of the beak has a yellow patch.

Little Grebe is a winter visitor and passage migrant.
