Ranging from 356m to 4570m depending on the season but mostly below 1370m during winters, the Oriental Turtle Dove is seen in pairs and occasionally solitary birds mostly seen in a range of environments, including open woodlands, forest edges, agricultural lands, and urban areas.

These doves have soft brownish-grey feathers with a hint of pink, distinctive black-and-white barring on the side of the neck, rufous-brown-black scaled scapulars, slaty-grey lower back, and rump, and a tail with white edges.

Its diet mainly includes seeds, grains, and small invertebrates, which it searches for on the ground.
