The owl’s upperparts are characterized by a gray-brown hue extensively marked with white, while the underparts exhibit a white base with brown streaks. The facial disc appears pale, and its iris is yellow. Notably, there is a distinct white neckband and supercilium (eyebrow). Both males and females share similar physical characteristics. This petite, crestless owl possesses a round head and a brief tail. Overall, its coloration is grayish-brown, adorned with white spots on the upper parts, while the underparts feature white with brown bars. The prominent white eyebrows and neckband are distinctive features of this species.
