The Hill Jezebel (Delias belladonna) is a striking mountain butterfly found across the mid-hills and Himalayan regions of Nepal. It inhabits forest edges, clearings, and flowering slopes at elevations ranging from approximately 457 to 2,743 meters.

This medium-sized butterfly is easily recognized by its contrasting coloration. The upper side of the wings is predominantly black to dark brown with distinct white markings, while the underside displays bright yellow patches and creamy-white spots that stand out during flight. The wings are broad and rounded, giving the butterfly a graceful appearance as it glides between flowers. Females are generally paler and less vividly marked than males.

Like many members of the Pieridae family, the Hill Jezebel is often seen visiting blossoms for nectar and adds vibrant color to Nepal’s mountain landscapes. Its bold patterning serves as a warning to predators and makes it one of the more distinctive butterflies of the Himalayan region.
